Marriott Rewards has announced that from 11 April, 2016 it will be offeirng members a discounted rate at Marriott Hotels. The new rates, entitled Marriott Rewards Member Rates, will be available for bookings via direct Marriott booking channels. Under the new rate, Marriott says that members will be offered a minimum discount of two percent on weekdays and a discount of up to five percent on weekends.  The offer, which Marriott describes as a reward to members, does require that members book through Marriott booking channels to take advantage of the discounted rates. Le Club AccorHotels has announced a partnership with SSI, that will allow members of the loyalty program to earn Le Club AccorHotels points for completing surveys. The new partnership, to be known as ClubOpinions, will offer members another mechanism to earn points within the program. As a sign u offer, Members stand to earn either 300 points (for Classic members) or 600 points (Silver, Gold, Platinum) after completing their first survey. Qantas has announced that members will now be able to apply for a Flight Upgrade Reward if they have made a Classic Reward booking.  Unitl now,, the ability to apply for an upgrade has been limited to cash fares, with Classic Awards, purchased by using points, have been excluded from the Upgrade process. Velocity, the Frequent Flyer Program of Virgin Australia has announced a set of tweaks to the program. The changes affect two main areas of the program – the number of points required for various redemptions, and some changes to the expiration policy of the points. Platinum members of the Le Club AccorHotels program now have access to the Club Sofitel lounges in the Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney Sofitel hotels. Le Club AccorHotels began offering Club lounge access to its platinum tier members in a revamp fo the program benefits in 2013. The benefit was extended pretty much to all Accor hotels worldwide that had a Lounge. Aquire, the Qantas loyalty program for small busnesses has launched a new promotion offering double Aquire points, and a bonus 50% on Status Credits, on eligible flights. It is thus providing benefits to both the business and the traveller. Every year, IHG Rewards publishes a list of hotels where the number of points required for a Reward Night at that hotel will be changing. Yesterday, IHG Rewards published [Link removed, as no longer available] the list for 2016. The list identifies 400 hotels that are changing in levels, with half reducing in the number of points, and the other half going up in points levels. Qantas has announced a reduction in the number of points required and the level of the surcharges co-payment required on a range of International Economy routes. Points In terms of the points requirements, the Classic Rewards charts have been updated to reflect a lower number of points required in Zones 4 through to Zone 10. Zone 4 is the zone that kicks in at a distance of 2,401 miles.
