It has been a few years since Priority Guest Rewards have has an option in the Perth CBD. The Rydges Perth closed in 2015, and reopened last year flying the Intercontinental flag.
Its return to city of lights came with the opening of the QT Perth on 1 August 2018.
As a chain, the QT Hotels site above the Rydges in terms of quality and service. QT has had an expanding footprint on the east coast, and it was good to see them take up a new build hotel in the Perth CBD.
QT Perth Location
Located on the corner of Barrack Street and Murray Street, it main entrance is on Murray Street.
The hotel itself is an 18 storey building with 184 guest rooms.
Among its facilities is a rooftop bar. This is partially enclosed, so you can partake in beverages even during inclement weather.
The hotel restaurant, Santini, is located on the 1st floor.
QT Perth Hotel
Lobby Area
The ground floor lobby area consists of reception, a seating area, and the ground floor cafe bar.
The Room
Unlike a lot of hotels, the QT does not have suites to choose from. In the end, I opted for the QT King Room. Probably the most basic of the rooms they have on offer. But there was nothing wrong with the room.
Overall, the room seemed functional and well designed. I particularly liked the bathroom – which had a proper bath and all. Quite different to many other newly built hotels.
Facilities
Rooftop Bar
One of the hotels highlights is a rooftop bar. Unfortunately, it was raining on the day of my stay, so my only experience is in the enclosed area of the bar.
Restaurant
The hotels main restaurant is Santini. Unfortunately, it was fully booked for dinner for the night of my arrival. As a result, I opted for a meal outside the hotel.
I had booked a package that included breakfast, so I headed there in the morning. The breakfast offering is a cooked to order a-la-carte affair. There was no buffet to be seen. Having a prepaid breakfast gives a reasonable choice from the menu.
Loyalty Program
As part of Event Hotels, the QT Perth participates in the Priority Guest Rewards program. When it opened, it did not participate in the Discovery program, however it has since been added to that program.
QT Perth is a welcome addition to the Perth Hotel scene. It has some nice design features, and is about as close to the shopping areas as you can get.
