A second piece of good news for Adelaide today, with Qantas opening the new Adelaide Domestic Business. This announcement coincided with the news that international flying would return to Adelaide.
With the opening of the Adelaide Domestic Business Lounge, Qantas Business customers and Platinum Frequent Flyers will have their own space, separate to the Qantas Club. As such, Adelaide joins the rest of the mainland capital cities in having the two domestic lounges.
Adelaide Domestic Business Lounge
Physically, the Adelaide Domestic Business Lounge has an overall footprint of 1016 square metres. That space will have capacity to host 190 customers.
The lounge features locally sourced furniture, lighting and natural materials, including a commissioned blown glass light installation from the JamFactory.

On top of that, in response to customer feedback, around 80 per cent of seats have access to power stations including USB-A/C and wireless charging mats so customers can easily charge before their flight.

Signature Dining
As with most of the Domestic Business Lounges (the exception is Sydney), Adelaide will have its own signature dining offer. In the case of Adelaide, this will be a ‘market kitchen’, which seeks its inspiration from the Adelaide Central Markets and South Australian producers. Dishes will be created by Qantas Creative Director of Food, Beverage and Service, Neil Perry and lighter snack options by Maggie Beer.
I say ‘will’ as it is not yet open. According to Qantas, the Market Lounge will be available from mid-2025. Of course, we are almost in the middle of the year, so we shouldn’t have too long to wait.
As you may expect, the photos suggest that one of the items on the menu will be a Pie Floater. That seems about as Adelaide as you can get.

Final Words
I have long thought that the old lounge looked as though it had been designed to have two distinct lounges. It’s good to see that Adelaide finally get a Domestic Business Lounge.
