Adelaide to get a new Qantas Business Lounge

Qantas has announced plans to build a new Domestic Business Lounge in Adelaide. In addition to the Adelaide Business Lounge, Qantas announced three other lounge updates.

Internationally, Qantas will be redeveloping its lounge space in Auckland. On the regional front, Qantas will be upgradings its lounges in Port Hedland and Rockhampton.

Adelaide Domestic Airport

First up, let’s look at Adelaide. Adelaide will finally get a separate Business Lounge for its Platinum Frequent Flyers and Business customers. On top of that, Qantas will also upgrade the existing Chairmans Lounge and Qantas Club.

Qantas has not said exactly where the new Business Lounge will be located. It may be a new area, although they may divide the current lounge into two. Indeed, the current Adelaide lounge could easily be divided into separate lounges.

Whichever way they go, the new business lounge will have the capacity for 190 passengers.

This update will begin in the second half of 2023.

Auckland Airport

Qantas will completely redesign and expand its existing lounge precinct at Auckland International Airport. The plan will see the current lounges combined into a single international lounge.

The new Premium Lounge will cater to all passengers travelling out of Auckland. This includes those travelling to Australia, in addition to those using the new service to New York.

The combined lounge will have the capacity of 340 seats.

Rockhampton and Port Hedland

Finally, two regional airports will be receiving new lounges.

Firstly, Rockhampton will receive a new lounge with seating for up to 60 passengers. Passengers will have access to the new lounge from November.

Secondly, Qantas has announced the redevelopment of the Port Hedland lounge. This will see its capacity increase to 120 passengers. Work is expected to be completed by the end of 2023.

Thoughts

Some of these updates are well overdue, so it is good to see Qantas announcing updates to these lounges. Having said that, Qantas has previously announced an upgrade to the Sydney International Business Lounge, and we are still waiting for that!
