American Express is offering a bonus of 15-20% when transferring American Express Membership Awards points to Velocity. Running from August 1 through to August 14, the bonus rate depends on the type of card you are holding.
For members holding either the American Express Platinum Card, or the Centurion Card, there is a 20% bonus on the table. For other cardholders, the bonus on offer is 15%.
As usual, there is a minimum points transfer of 2,000 points, and from there you can go up in increments of 1 points.
For members in American Express Ascent, the normal transfer rate is 1 Membership Rewards Point to 1 Velocity Point. So, while that 2,000 points would normally transfer to 2,000 Velocity Points, during this promotion, you would get 2,300 Velocity Points. Note that the transfer rate may be different in other Membership Rewards programs.
These bonus offers are always handy, and come around reasonably regularly. If you have a redemption in mind, then it may well be worth transferring some points over.
