During September, American Express are offering a bonus 50% points when transferring points from Membership Rewards to Hilton Honors. For most members, this will boost the transfer rate from a 1:1 ratio to a 1:1.5 ratio

Transfer Bonus Details

The offer appears to be available to a range of cards offering transfers to the Hilton Honors program. From what I have seen, it includes cards that participate in the Ascent, Ascent Premium and Gateway programs.

Apart from the David Jones version, most Membership rewards programs allow you to transfer blocks of 1,000 Membership Rewards Points to 1,000 Hilton Honors Points.

Between September 1 and September 30, American Express will be boosting that transfer rate by 50%. That means, for each 1,000 Membership Rewards Points you transfer, you will receive 1,500 Hilton Honors points.

It is not clear whether the David Jones cards are eligible for the offer, however, they typically transfer at a 2:1 ratio, which is somewhat worse than the other programs.

The initial transfer of points typically takes up to 3 business days. American Express have stated that the additional bonus points could take up to eight weeks.

If you are looking to transfer points to Hilton Honors, then September may be a good time to do it. Just check that your particular card is eligible for the bonus, and be aware that the bonus points could take 2 months to post.
