Qantas premium passengers travelling through Broome have long enjoyed the Broome lounge. Now, Qantas has announced that these customers will soon be able to enjoy a new lounge.
Development of the new regional lounge kicked off today. Its design will allow it to offer double the capacity of the current lounge.
At the same time, Broome Airport is expanding its terminal. Indeed, this terminal expansion is giving Qantas the option of building a new, bigger lounge.
Qantas Chief Customer and Digital Officer Catriona Larritt says:
“Western Australia is a key market for us and our continued investment in the state underscores our commitment to supporting visitation to Broome and providing exceptional experiences for our customers who are travelling through for business or leisure.”
The architecture of the lounge will be reflective of the surrounding Kimberley area ensuring customers are immersed in the region’s natural landscape from the moment they step in.
Interestingly, it reflects some moves by Qantas to localise design elements of the regional lounges. In the past, they have often seemed to take a cookie-cutter approach.
In the case of Broome, Qantas says the lounge will feature the vibrant colours of the Dampier Peninsula. The fit-out will include “deep red hues from the James Price Point landscape, bright oranges representing the sand and soil at Roebuck Bay and blue tones drawing from Willie Creek.”
