Discovery Hotels
Discovery Hotels are an alliance of a number of smaller hotel chains. In Australia, hotels participating in the Discovery program include Oaks, Pan Pacific, and Park Royal hotels.
GHA Discovery Loyalty Programme Levels
The Discovery Loyalty Programme has four levels – Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Titanium. The entry level for the program is the Silver level. From there you can move up to Gold, through Platinum, and onwards to Platinum.
As eligible nights are one of the criteria in determining your status levels, this promotion can accelerate your climb through the program tiers. The other criteria being the number of brands you stay at, or a spend related criteria.
In the case of Platinum, you would normally need to stay 10 nights in a calendar year. If you have the Titanium level in your sights, you will normally require 30 nights.
The Double Night Credits allow you to attain status in half the time. For example, you could obtain Platinum after just 5 nights instead of 10 nights. Similarly, Titanium could be yours after just 15 nights, rather than the 30 nights it would normally require.
Of course, this would be if all your nights happened in the promotion period. It may be more likely to be some way toward the requirements already. In that case, you now only need half the nights you thought you did.
The main benefits for Platinum and Titanium members are that room upgrades and late checkouts are made available.
Platinum Members are eligible for a one-level upgrade, and a 3 pm checkout. If you can get to Titanium Level, you will then be in line for a two-level upgrade and a 4 pm checkout.
Thoughts
This was a promotion that the Discovery programme used to run reasonably often. It is good for those that achieve status based on nights. For those that stay based on the number of brands that stay at, it’s not so worthwhile.
