Qantas have added the ability to earn Qantas Points when signing up for a Qantas Club membership. As of August 1, Bronze and Silver Frequent Flyer members will earn 3 Qantas Points per dollar on the relevant join and annual membership fees.
Of course, the offer does not help Gold, Platinum and Platinum One members, as they are granted complimentary Qantas Club memberships.
The three points per dollar is the earn based on sigining up for a membership. Keep in mind that paying on a Qantas Points earning card will gain extra points, based on the credit card spend. So be sure to pay with the most worthwhile card!
Membership Fees
This does seem to come at a cost though. At the same time as adding Qantas Points earning, Qantas are increasing the cost of joining the Qantas club.
Qantas are suggesting that the rate increases are less than 6%. While this sound steep as a headline number, Qantas day this is the first increase in three years.
As a result of the uplift in prices
[Prices until 18 April 2024]
- Joining fees – $99
- One year membership $540
- Two year membership $980
- Four year membership $1,850
When first signing up, members need to pay both the joining fee and the relevant fee for the number of years membership.
Qantas justify the extra price on investments they have made throughout the club network over the last few years.
