Flybuys has launched a new travel website, allowing you to earn and burn Flybuys points. You can earn Flybuys points while purchasing Flights, Accommodation or Rental Car services. In addition, there are options available ot redeem Flybuys points for the travel services.
As a launch deal, Flybuys is offering 5 Flybuys points per dollar on all spend on Flights, Accommodation or Rental Cards. The promotion is running through until April 19, 2016. After that time, the earn rate will revert to the normal earn rate of 1 Flybuys point per dollar.
In addition, you can redeem Flybuys points to pay for services bought on the site. Flybuys points generally have a value of 1/2 a cent per point, and this is the ‘exchange rate’ offered by the travel site when using points to purchase travel.
Overall, the new travel site is a large improvement of the previous tie in with Webjet. While the base prices of Webjet are fairly market competitive, there were a range of additional fees levied by Webjet. The new Flybuys travel site has no booking fees (although the airline credit card fees look to still be charged)
A qucik check of some prices offered by the website suggest that the prices are much the same (and in some cases, slightly lower) than the equivalent price on another webiste
