Get a Status Match to Ascott Star Rewards

If you’re sitting on elite status with a hotel or airline loyalty program, you might be missing out on perks at Ascott properties like Citadines, Oakwood, and lyf. The good news? Ascott Star Rewards (ASR) offers a generous status match program—and it’s easier than you think to level up.

    What Is Ascott Star Rewards?

Ascott Star Rewards is the free-to-join global loyalty program for properties under The Ascott Limited’s umbrella. The Ascott Limited has a presence in over 40 countries, particularly in Asia-Pacific, the Middle East and Europe.

In addition to the already mentioned brands, their diverse brand portfolio also includes the Somerset, Ascott The Residence, and The Crest Collection brands.

    Ascott Star Rewards status levels

ASR have a fairly straightforward set of status levels – Classic, Silver, Gold and Platinum. Starting from the Classic level, you move up through the levels – first to Silver, then Gold and finally Platinum. As you move up the levels, you gain extra perks. For example, as you move up, you earn extra points on your stay. In addition, the late checkout benefit improves. At the Silver level it is “on-priority”, while at the Platinum level, 3pm late checkouts are on offer.

The following shows the levels and the key benefits of each level:

    TierAnnual Spend RequirementKey Benefits
ClassicNone (entry-level)Birthday voucher, member rates, complimentary basic Wi-Fi
SilverSG$1,000All Classic benefits plus 20% bonus points, priority member services
GoldSG$3,000All Silver benefits plus 40% bonus points, early check-in/late check-out
PlatinumSG$10,000All Gold benefits plus 60% bonus points, room upgrades, welcome amenities

Normally, you move up the status levels based on your spend in participating hotels. For example, Silver requires a $SGD1,000 spend in 12 months, while platinum requires a $SGD10,000 spend. However, you can “skip the queue” so to speak through a status match. This will let you enjoy status benefits at participating properties, even if you haven’t previously stayed with Ascott.

The Ascott Star Rewards Status Match Program

The Ascott Star Rewards (ASR) status match program allows you to match your current elite status from other loyalty programs to a corresponding ASR tier. And it’s not just from a handful of programs, ASR are quite broad on which programs you can match from. While you can match from a number of hotel programs, you can also match from airline programs and in some cases, a credit card.

    Status Match from Hotel Programs

The following table shows the level you may be matched to from various hotel programs.

    Other Options

If you don’t have any of the above, Ascott provide an ‘Other’ option. Basically, this option will allow you to make your request, and this request will be reviewed by ASR.

    Requesting a Status Match

ASR have set up a dedicated page for the Status Match. It is simply a matter of filling in the form on the page:

    • Enter the Loyalty Program that you are matching from
    • Select your current status in that loyalty program
    • You will need to verify some details for the status match. These vary depending on the type of program you are matching from
      • Hotel or Airline Programs: When matching from Hotel or Airline programs
        • Upload a screenshot showing your level
        • Upload proof of a stay (or travel) in the last 18 months
      • Credit Card Partner: When matching from a credit card partner
        • Upload a sceenshot of your credit card status (excluding credit card number)
        • Include a picture of your ASR membership Dashboard
    • Accept the terms and conditions
    • Click on Submit

    Final Words

Status Matches are a good way of getting started with a new program. By leverarging an existing membership, you could receive perks in the new program.

ASR are offering quite a flexible option here – they are matching from a wide range of other programs.

That said, ASR is not the only program to offer a status match. Hilton Honors provide a Status Match challenge, while Mastercard holders might be able to use their card for a range of programs.
