Last year, Hilton Honors introduced a one off Diamond Extension benefit to the program. Under the offer, Diamond members that fell short of achieving Diamond may be eligible to request a one year extension.
One of the benefits of the extension is that any reason for the drop off can be used. The big thing to watch is that it is a once in a lifetime benefit – so choose your year carefully.
Diamond Extension for 2018
Hilton Honors have just started accepting requests for this years Diamond Extension. This year, members have until March 28, 2018 to request the extension. Any extension granted this year will be valid until March 31, 2019.
In order to request the extension, you do need to meet the following criteria:
- Have been a Diamond Member for at least five years (although the years need not be consecutive)
- Have achieved one of the following during the life of your membership:
- Stayed 250 eligible nights (award or paid)
- Earned 500,000 base points
Hilton Honors is now accepting requests for coming year. If you see yourself falling from Diamond at the end of March, and meet the criteria for an extension, you can submit a request online to extend your status through to the end of March, 2019.
It is worth noting that if aiming for Lifetime Diamond, the year available through this extension will not count toward the 10 year requirement for LifeTime.
