Hilton on the Park Melbourne to rebrand as Pullman on the Park

Accor have announced that they will be taking over the management of Melbourne’s Hilton on the Park hotel. From 1 January, 2015 the hotel will be rebranded as Pullman on the Park. The change from Hilton to Accor, comes following a previous announcement that Accor’s Citigate property was moving into the Hilton fold, under the Doubletree brand.

Twelve months ago there were rumours that Hilton may be leaving as the property had been placed up for sale. Hilton at the time had said they were interested in renewing the management contract for the property. While it does now seem its future as a hotel is safe, it does mark another departure of a Hilton hotel in Melbourne.

Pullman Melbourne on the Park is an iconic property that is a ten minute walk from Melbourne’s CBD and a number of the city’s major attractions. The hotel consists of 419 rooms,  the hotel also has extensive facilities which include four food and beverage outlets, a swimming pool, fitness centre and Day Spa.

Its location also places it among many of the cities sporting venues, including the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), Rod Laver Arena, Hisense Arena, Olympic Park and AAMI Park. This has made it a good hotel for those attending events such as the Australian Open, the Ashes Series or the AFL.

While bad news for Hilton HHonors members, it gives a further boost to Accor Le Club members who will now have an additional hotel at which to earn points. Unlike the Sofitel, Pullman Hotels in Australia have not restricted club lounge access to Le Club platinum members who generally have access to the lounge areas regardless of room type booked.
