Thai based owner-operator Amora Hotels & Resorts is growing its Australian footprint, acquiring the Hilton Adelaide. Following the acquisition of the hotel, Amora is planning a $40 million revamp and rebrand. This will see the Hilton name leave Adelaide.
This adds to the bad news for Hilton Honors aficionado following the recent confirmation that the Hilton brand was set to exit Brisbane. That said, the exit from Adelaide is a bit further down the track. The current management contract with Hilton runs through to the end of June 2026.
Hilton Adelaide
The Hilton Adelaide is a 377-room luxury hotel, located Victoria Square. This puts it in the heart of the city’s entertainment, dining, shopping, and business precincts. The hotel features a range of facilities including conference and meeting rooms, two food and beverage venues, a business lounge, tennis court, gym and swimming pool.
Amora Hotels and Resorts
Amora Hotels and Resorts is a Thai based family-owned company. It is on a bit of an expansion path in Australia. Last year, it upgraded and rebranded the former Novotel Brisbane. The company is on the lookout for hotels in Australian Capital cities, with Perth being the main absentee in their portfolio. They are also seeking opportunities in Auckland.
The company has a preference to run hotels under its own brand. In essence, they baulk at paying management fees when they can run the hotels themselves. As such, its intention is to rebrand any acquisition to its own Amora brand.
