IHG Hotels & Resorts launches Vignette Collection

Hotel X - First Hotel in the Vignette Collection

Hotel X - First Hotel in the Vignette Collection

IHG Hotels & Resorts has announced a new Luxury and Lifestyle brand – Vignette Collection. The new brand will give hotels a home within IHG while allowing them to retain their own identity.

The first two members of the new collection will be Hotel X in Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley, and the Pattaya Aquatique hotel in Thailand. IHG expects that over 100 properties will join the collection over the next 10 years.

Hotel X

Hotel X in Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley will become the first hotel in the Vignette Collection. While this hotel was originally planned as a Hotel Indigo, it ended up starting out life operating independently within the IHG network. It now finds a new home within the Vignette Collection.

In the words of IHG:

Hotel X’s distinctive design and luxurious facilities celebrate this iconic Brisbane neighbourhood through ultra-cool art, Avant Garde lighting and exceptional views of the cityscape.

Pattaya Aquatique hotel Thailand

The second hotel announced is the Pattaya Aquatique hotel in Thailand, located in the Aquatique district. The hotel is targetted at travellers “seeking inspirational and exceptional experiences”.

Unlike Hotel X, this hotel is still under construction and is expected to open in 2024.

Thoughts

Having ‘independent’ collections within a broader program seems to have become quite popular. For example, there’s Hilton’s Curio, Marriott’s Autograph, and Hyatt’s Unbound Collection, so it must make some sense.

Interestingly, the Pattaya Aquatique has previously been announced as being part of the Autograph collections. It is not clear what happened there. Perhaps IHG offered a better deal.

There has been little detail on how the new hotels will fit into the IHG Rewards. Having said that, it is likely members will be in for some interesting hotel choices.
