IHG Rewards – Double points on Incidentals

IHG Double Points Incidentals

IHG Rewards has launched a new promotion offering double points on incidentals charged to your room bill while staying in-house at a particpating hotel.  Participating hotels include InterContinental®, Crowne Plaza®, Hotel Indigo®, Holiday Inn® hotels and resorts across Asia Pacific (excluding China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan), Middle East and Africa.

Note that Holiday Inn Express is not listed in the particpating brand list. This is normally considered a separate brand by IHG Rewards, so looks to be excluded from this promotion.

In order to earn bonus points under this promotion, any eligible incidental spend will need to be charged to your room. Generally speaking, the eligible charges include food and beverage, room service, laundry, telephone and so on. There are, however, some incidental charges that will not earn bonus points (or points in general). These include services that are not managed by the hotel – this may include some restaurants and Spa services. The actual room rate itself will also not be awarded bonus points under this promotion.

Normally, members would earn 10 points for each US$1 spend on incidental charges. Under this promotion, this will become a total of 20 points for each US$1. However, unlike the standard points, the bonus points may not post at the same time that the stays post to your account. IHG Rewards say they may post up to 4 – 6 weeks after the stay.

The promotion requires registration, and is running between April 15, 2016 and the end of the year.
