IHG Rewards is offering its members a 10%-15% discount of food and beverage in a promotion it is calling Today’s Special. The discount is available at bars and restaurants across Asia Pacific, Greater China, the Middle East, and Africa and is available through to 30 December.

Countries covered by the discount include Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia and Singapore. You can see a full list of participating hotels here.

One thing to keep in mind, is that while the benefit includes beverages, this does not extend to alcoholic beverages.

Today’s Special Details

The exact discount that you will receive varies by you elite status. If you are Club or Gold Elite, then your discount is 10%. Further up the tree, Platinum Elite, Spire and Ambassador members get the 15% discount.

Even better, you do not need to be staying at the hotel in order to get the discount. You can just show your membership card in order to get the discount. Of course, under the program, you can not receive points for your meal if you aren’t staying in-house. To get IHG Rewards points for your meal, you need to charge the meal to your room.

If you do charge it to your room, IHG say to have the discount applied by the outlet. The Front Desk may not be able to apply the discount later, such as when you are checking out.

Another restriction is that the discount cannot be combined with other offers. For example, room rates with a food and beverage inclusion, or a food and beverage credit would not be eligible for the offer.

For further details on the promotion, check out the promotion page on the IHG Rewards website.

Final Words

Discounts are always good to try to get people to eat in hotel restaurants. Marriott Bonvoy offers similar discounts on an ongoing basis with this in mind.

There is a separate, but similar, promotion the Middle East, India and Africa. If you are in those countries, there is an even better offer of up to a 30% discount.
