Jetstar Pacific will be leaving the Qantas Frequent Flyer program from 29 July 2020. As a result, you will only be able to earn Qantas Points and Status Credits until 28 July.

Given the current restrictions, this won’t have an immediate effect on most Qantas Frequent Flyers. However, it will have an effect on people that use the Vietnamese carrier’s service in the future.

The departure from Qantas Frequent Flyer comes following the decision of Qantas to sell its stake in the carrier.

Qantas had held a 30% stake in the airline. However, they have decided to sell their stake to Vietnam Airlines. As a result, Jetstar Pacific will become a wholly-owned subsidiary of Vietnam Airlines. It has been suggested that the airline will revert to its original Pacific Airlines name.

This change does not affect the earning on other Jetstar Airlines. It only affects flying on Jetstar Pacific (BL) flight numbers.

If you are flying on Jetstar (JQ), Jetstar Asia (3K) and Jetstar Japan (GK) you will still earn when flying on eligible fares. Those eligible fares include both the Starter Plus and Starter Max bundles. You will not normally earn Points and status credits on the basic starter fare.
