Jetstar has rolled out changes to its fare bundles and inclusions that apply to tickets purchases from 4 June 2024. The changes see the Starter Max fares being removed and a new Flex Plus Bundle introduced. At the same time, the Starter Plus and Flex bundles have seen changes to the bundle inclusions.

In particular, Qantas Frequent Flyers will find that new Starter Plus fares purchased from 4 June will not earn Qantas Points. If you want Qantas Points, you will need to purchase a Flex or Flex Plus bundle.

However, while the Flex bundle does earn Frequent Flyer Points, it does not have included baggage. It is the Flex Plus bundle that gives you all the inclusions.

Jetstar Fares from 4 June 2024

When you make your bookings, you will be presented with the following options:

    Starter Fare

The Jetstar Starter fare remains the entry level fare for Jetstar. The fare includes very few inclusions – while you get 7kg of carry-on luggage, you don’t get checked-in luggage, meals, seat selection, or very much at all.

    Starter Plus Bundle

The Starter Plus Fare adds in 20Kg of checked baggage, an inflight meal or snack, and standard seat selection. On the downside, it no longer includes the chance to earn Qantas Frequent Flyer points. For that, you need to move up to a Flex or Flex Plus fare.

In addition, if you need to make a change you will now be hit with a change fee, in addition to the fare difference.

    Flex Bundle

The next level of bundle is the Flex Bundle. While this adds the ability to earn Frequent Flyer Points, and includes some flexibility, it does not have checked-in luggage. Even worse, the carry-on luggage allowance has been reduces from 14kg to 7kg.

On the flexibility front, you get the options of being able to make date and time changes (subject to any fare difference)

    Flex Plus Bundle

This bundle gets you the works and is most similar to the previous Starter Max offering. If you take up the Flex Plus offering you will get the chance to earn frequent flyer points, checked luggage and increased flexibility.

For full details of the updated fares and inclusions, refer to the Jetstar fares page.
