Velocity and Le Club AccorHotels have launched a new promotion offering double points on stays at Sofitel Hotels worldwide. The offer is valid at when you book and stay between August 31 and November 15, 2018.
The promotion is very similar to the Triple Velocity points promotion currently underway with Novotel. It is not clear why they have released these as two separate promotions. They are very similar promotions – with a different multiplier depending on the brand. Whatever the reason, there are two promotions. As a result, it seems you will need to register for both if you stay at both the Novotel and Sofitel brands.

In order to earn Double Velocity Points when staying at a Sofitel Hotel, you must set Velocity as your preferred automatic conversion option in your Le Club AccorHotels account. When booking the stay, you then simply need to quote your Le Club AccorHotels number when booking.Once this is setup any points earned in your Le Club AccorHotels account will be automatically transferred to your Velocity account.
Keep in mind that if you do make Velocity your preferred option, then all points in your account will be converted to Velocity Points. This process normally happens on your first stay after selecting the transfer option.
Any such points that get transferred will only transfer at the standard Velocity transfer rate. This may not be that big of an issue, but it is something to be kept in mind.
