Lord Howe Island is the latest Qantas Points Plane destination

Lord Howe Island

Lord Howe Island

Qantas has announced Lord Howe Island as the latest in its Points Plane series. As a result, they have opened up award availability on a number of flights between Sydney and Lord Howe Island.

Many have long sought after Classic Awards to the pacific island. Cash fares can be expensive, making Award flights good value for such a short distance.

With Qantas making every seat on every plane on eligible flights available, this could be a great opportunity. That said, there are a couple of things to keep in mind.

Classic Awards are available within the following time periods

Lord Howe Island is served by a Dash 8 aircraft. As a result it is an Economy only service. You can redeem a one-way flight for 8,000 Qantas Points and $86 in fees and charges, The return price is double, so 16,000 Qantas Points together with a cash payment of $172.

So, what’s the catch?

As I mentioned, there are a couple of things to keep in mind with this offer.

Firstly, it’s in the middle of winter. So, you can expect rain and cool temperatures. It is certainly not the peak season to go for a visit.

The other is that there is only limited accommodation available on the island. So, you may want to check that out before committing to a trip on the Points Plane.

That said, it could be a good opportunity to get over to Lord Howe Island.
