Late last year, Marriott Bonvoy announced that it was making changes to it Suite Night Awards offer. As a result of the changes, they also announced that they were renaming the offer to Nightly Upgrade Awards. This was needed as the changes extended beyond suites into other premium room types.
Marriott Bonvoy have now begun a phased approach to the rollout of Nightly Upgrade Rewards.
Nightly Upgrade Rewards
From this week, you will begin to see these changes come into effect. The new name of the offer will be the most obvious change in the App.
In addition, you will begin to see more premium rooms and suites across the Marriott Bonvoy portfolio available for upgrades. As noted in last year’s announcement, and by the name change, these rooms will extend beyond suites. For example, premium rooms could include include features like oceanfront rooms, balconies, and extra space.
Marriott will now allow you to use the upgrades at 5 additional brands. The additional brands are The Ritz-Carlton, EDITION, Aloft, Element and Protea hotels Having said that, there are some Ritz-Carlton sub brands that do not participate in the offer.
How do you get Nightly Upgrade Awards?
The second way is really only applicable to members in the US. Members who spend $60,000 USD on eligible purchases on their Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant® American Express® Card in a calendar year will get the Brilliant Earned Choice Award and may choose to receive five Nightly Upgrade Awards.
