Qantas has announced that its next Boeing 787 will be its first destination in Asia – Hong Kong. The 787 will join the A330 and A380 aircraft that already service Hong Kong.
New services to Hong Kong will begin in December 2018, initially from Melbourne and Brisbane. From late March, the 787 will switch from Melbourne-Hong Kong onto the Sydney-Hong Kong route.

- Melbourne to Hong Kong between 13 December 2018 until 29 March 2019
- Sydney to Hong Kong from 30 March 2019.
Changes
The changes come into effect in conjunction with the arrival of the eighth Dreamliner, and will join the A330 and A380 aircraft that also fly to Hong Kong.
Hong Kong joins Los Angeles, New York, London and San Francisco as international destinations served by the Qantas Dreamliner, as the more efficient aircraft gradually replaces the 747 on key routes.

The delivery of the eight Dreamliner marks the end of the first batch of 787s. A further 6 are on order, with deliveries commencing late next year.
