Qantas has announced direct seasonal flights between Sydney and Osaka (Kansai) International). The seasonal flight will operate 3 days a week between 14 December 2017 until 24 March 2018.

The service will operate each Monday, Thursday and Saturday, and will be operated by upgraded two-class Airbus A330 aircraft. These aircraft feature the Business Suite product, somplete with lie flat beds.

Sydney – Osaka Timetable

Qantas has released the following timetable for the service. Note from the table, that the Monday services operate on a different schedule to those that operate on Thursday and Saturday.

Flt Num Route Dep/Arr Mon Tue Wed Thu Fri Sat Sun
QF33 SYD-KIX 0930/1725
1325/2120
QF34 KIX-SYD 1855/0645+1
2250/1040+1

,

As is the case with many of the Asian services operated by Qantas, the return flights operate overnight. This is not so bad for thise flying in Business – they get the upgraded Business Suite. Unfortunately, it is not so comfortable for those making the overnight flights in economy.

Introductory Price

As an introductory special, Qantas is offering discounted prices for both the economy and business cabins. These tickets are keenly priced with cconomy tickets start from $699 return. Tickets to the pointy end start from $3,499 return.  These prices will be available until August 4, 2017.

Redemptions

Newly announced flights often provide good availabiliy for snagging an award seat – and these flights are no different. Economy and Business award seats were available on several of the dates I checked, although there was no availability on some dates.

The booking screens show prices of 144,000 Qantas Points plus $515.42 for a return Business trip. Economy, on the other hand will set you back 70,000 Qantas Points plus $335.42.

As usual, the use of points is better for the Business rAward. Indeed, with the current special offer, you may be better off just paying the cash price if you are travelling in Economy.
