Qantas has expanded its insurance reach, launching Qantas Car Insurance. In a similar fashion to their other insurance products, Qantas Frequent Flyer Points are on offer to attract new business.
Better still, the points are not just on your premiums. For example, bonus points may be awarded for checking your tyre pressure or getting your car serviced.
Qantas Car Insurance
To kick off the new product, Qantas is offering up to 20,000 Qantas Points to members taking out a new Car Insurance policy. On top of the bonus, members can earn 1 Point per dollar on their insurance premiums.
Qantas is offering the following types of cover:
- comprehensive;
- third party property, fire and theft; and
- third party property only,
As mentioned, there is a sign up bonus of up to 20,000 Qantas Points on offer. However, it is not entirely clear how the bonus is calculated. It is based in part on your premium. The website also suggests that each product has its maximum.
In any case, Qantas has said that you will need an annual premium of at least $2,000 to get the full haul of points.
In addition, you will need to hold the policy for 60 days to get the bonus points.
Points for safety checks
On top of the points based on your premiums, Qantas is also offering points for performing safety-related maintenance. As with the additional points with Qantas Assure, you will need to track this in the Qantas Wellbeing App.
The safety tasks include checking your tyre pressure and entering it into the app, and answering questions about your brakes and booking services. Qantas have noted that anything recorded in the app will not affect the policy or premiums.
Finally, you can also earn 1 Qantas Point per dollar spent on Qantas’s Roadside Assistance membership.
