This is a bit of a surprise – another Qantas Double Status Credits promotion. Coming just two months after the previous promotion, it is open for bookings made over the six days. It’s a popular promotion, as it can give you a boost in getting a higher status.
Under the promotion, eligible flights include all Qantas marketed and operated flights that would normally earn status credits.
In order to take advantage of the Double Status credits offer, you will need to:
- Register for the promotion,
- Book an eligible Qantas Operated flight between October 11 and October 16, 2018. Note that existing bookings are not eligible for the promotion.
- Travel between 23 October 2018 and 30 June 2019. A shorter period than previous offer, that have usually offered a close to a full year.
Which flights are included?
It is important to be careful when booking you flights. You need to choose flights that are marketed and operated by Qantas. That is, you need to have a QF number on your ticket. Equally important is that you need to be on a Qantas operated flight. So no codeshares.
As an example of where this can trip you up, consider a flight from Melbourne to Singapore. Qantas operate its own flights, and the also codeshare on Emirates. In order to get the double status credits, you need to pick the Qantas operated flights. If you choose the Emirates operated flights, then no double status credits.
Why Status Credits?
Status Credits are used as the measure that determines your status level within the program. Using a double status credit offer, you could find it easier to rise through the ranks to Silver, Gold, or even Platinum. It could also help you on the way to the next loyalty bonus.
The number of status credits you need for the various levels are as follows:
- Silver – 300 to qualify, then 250 to requalify each year
- Gold – 700 to qualify, then 600 to requalify each year
- Platinum – 1400 to qualify, then 1200 to requalify each year
- Platinum one – 3,600 each year, of which 2,700 must be on Qantas marketed flights.
While the bonus will help you gain a higher level, the bonus doesn’t count towards Loyalty Bonus or Platinum One Loyalty Bonus earn requirements.
Remember, also, that these status credits also count toward your lifetime tally. They will make that Lifteime Silver of Lifetime Gold status just that little bit closer.
What do the bonus status credits count toward?
As we have noted before, not all status credits are created equally. While the bonus status credits will help you to silver, gold, platinum, or platinum one status, they don’t count towards a few things. In particular, the terms of the promotion state that “Bonus Status Credits earned from this offer do not count towards Loyalty Bonus, Platinum Bonus Reward, Platinum One Bonus Reward and Status Accelerator/Challenge earn requirements”
