Qantas has just kicked off one of its most eagerly awaited offers – a Double Status Credits offer. Alternatively, you can choose to take Double Points instead of Double Status Credits.
In order to be in the running for Double Status Credits of Double Points you need to register your selection either in the Qantas App, or on the website.
Once you have made your choice, you then need to make new eligible bookings. You can make these bookings between 25 October and 31 October 2024 for travel between 1 November 2024 and 19 October 2025.
Qantas Double Status Credits Offer
These promotions are fairly straightforward, but there is only a limited time to take advantage of the offer.
Key Details:
- Offer: Double Qantas Points or Double Status Credits
- Registration: To take part in this promotion, you will need to make your choice in the latest version of the Qantas App (if you do not have access to the App, you can make your choice at Qantas.com)
- Booking Period: You will need to book a Qantas-operated flight, with a Qantas flight number between 25 October and 31 October 2024.
- Travel Period: You can travel from 1 November 2024 and 19 October 2025.
Some Conditions
The offers apply across the Qantas network. This includes both their domestic and international services. However, you need to book an eligible flight to get the Double Status Credits or Points. Eligible flights are Qantas marketed and operated. That means you need to book a flight under a ‘QF’ flight number and travel on a Qantas aircraft.
This means that other flights are ineligible for the offer. Ineligible flights include any codeshares on Jetstar, Emirates, or any other Qantas partner airline. If you book and fly on one of these flights, you will not earn your double status or double points (depending on your choice)
There are a few things to be aware of if you choose Double Status Credits. Firstly, there is good news for Points Club members. The double status credits will apply to Classic Rewards flights taken by Points Club members.
In addition, it is worth noting that the bonus Status Credits don’t count toward everything. For example, they do not count toward Loyalty Bonus, Platinum Bonus Reward, Platinum One Bonus Reward, and Status Accelerator/Challenge earn requirements. Having said that, to gain (or retain) Silver, Gold, or Platinum levels, you are good to go.
Status Credits or Points
This all begs the question of whether to go for Double Status Credits or Double Points.
On the Status Credits front, if you are looking for a leg up to a higher status, or to retain your current status, this could be the offer for you.
For example, let’s say you had Platinum in mind. From a standing start, you would need 1,400 status credits. With this offer, you could earn 700 Status Credits + the bonus of 700 would get you to platinum. That would normally only get you to gold.
However, it may be that a few extra Status Credits aren’t going to help you out that much. For example, you are quite a way from jumping up a level, and you have no need for the extra flights. In cases like this, you may be better off taking the double points.
Thoughts
Judging by the number of times the question is asked on social media, Double Status Credits is probably one of the most anticipated promotions on the Qantas calendar. Having said that, it is not for everyone, and the option of double points may suit some people better.
The choice of status credits or points matches the promotions that have run over the last few years.
