Qantas has announced that it will begin flights between Darwin and Singapore. However, you will have to wait a little while until you travel. The first flight sets off from Darwin to Singapore on 9 December 2024.
At launch, Qantas will be offering flights 5 days a week, although it will ramp that up to daily from March 2025.
According to Qantas, it will be possible to operate this flight following the establishment of an E190 base in Darwin. The small jet (with 10 Business, and 84 Economy seats) is of a size that Qantas can operate on an ongoing basis – something they say would not be possible with a larger aircraft.
The schedules for the new flights are as follows:
- QF353 depart Darwin at 6.05pm, arriving into Singapore at 9.25pm
- QF354 departs Singapore at 10.25pm, arriving back in Darwin at 4.45am
The schedule is designed to allow Territorians to connect to QF1, heading off from Singapore to London at 11:25 pm.
Qantas International CEO Cam Wallace said the Singapore service was a welcome addition to the airline’s international network out of Darwin.
“We’re thrilled to be offering our customers another new international route out of Darwin and strengthening the important trade, business and tourism links between Australia and Singapore,” said Mr Wallace.
“The direct service is not just great news for Territorians wanting to visit Singapore, but also for those travelling to London, Europe and across Southeast Asia, with connections to popular destinations like Phuket and Kuala Lumpur with our partner airlines, saving hours of travel time.”
