Qantas offers double points on partner earn

0

Qantas is running a three month promotion offering double points of partner earn. The promotion is offering up to 5,000 points a month when earning points through non airline partners.

Details

Qantas are promoting it as earning points on the ground. Up to 5,000 Qantas points will be awarded each month for the three months the promotion is running. As a result, there are 15,000 Qantas Points on offer with this promotion.

It is worth noting, that the months are a little variable in length – and the final month looks to be six weeks long. The three periods are:

  • 30 March – 30 April 2017
  • 1 May – 31 May 2017
  • 1 June – 13 July 2017

The full details of the promotion are available on the Qantas Points site. In order to be in line for the bonus points, you will need to register for the promotion.

For the purposes of the promotion, there are a few exclusions in where points may be earned. As already mentioned, points earned from flights are excluded. In addition, the terms of the promotion indicate that points transferred from other reward programs are excluded. It is not completely clear what this refers to. It possibly exclude points transfers from programs such as the American Express Ascent Premium program.

The leaves the question of where can you actually earn points eligible for the promotion. It would seem that points earned through the Qantas Mall, Eqipure, Assure, car rentals and direct earn credit cards are likely to be eligible.

It’s a bit of a unique promotion, and I don’t recall seeing Qantas offer anything like this before. If you earn points through non flying means, there seems little point in not taking up the offer.
