Qantas has rolled out a double status credits offer for flights to New Zealand. And it’s not just status credits, they’re also throwing in a serve of 5,000 Qantas Points.

Key Details

To be eligible for the double status credits, you must book a flight between Australia and New Zealand. In addition, it has to be a Qantas-operated flight with a ‘QF’ flight number.

While the offer is for both Status Credits and Bonus Points, they will be paid out at different times. You will most likely get the points first, as these will be paid out to you within 6 weeks of making the booking.

Bonus status credits will take a little longer, as you need to take the flight to get these. Qantas state that the Status Credits should be in your account up to six weeks after travel.

Thoughts

It seems that Qantas is trying to boost numbers on the Trans-Tasman flights. While by all accounts, sales between Australia and New Zealand got off to quite a solid start. However, it seems that demand has started to fall off.

What better way to encourage demand than throwing some double status credits around. If that’s not enough, add some bonus points to the mix. I dare say a few people will take the offer up.
