Qantas has launched a Covid vaccination reward program, offering rewards to vaccinated Australian-based frequent flyers. Eligible members can choose between Qantas Points, Status Credits or a discount voucher. In addition, Qantas is offering up ten ‘mega prizes’ which include a year of free domestic and international flights.
The Offers
There are two parts to the offer – the first offers something for everyone, while the second is the mega draw. To take part, you will need to be fully vaccinated, and be able to upload proof in the Qantas App.
The certificate that you need to upload will be available through Medicare, either through the App, or through MyGov. Qantas will not retain this certificate after they have verified your eligibility.
Under the first part of the offer, you will get to choose your own reward. You can choose between the following
- 1,000 Qantas Points, or
- 15 Status Credits, or
- $20 flight discount with Qantas or Jetstar
Once you have made your selection, you will be entered into the mega draw. These draws consist of the following
- One year of flights on the Qantas or Jetstar domestic or international network, as available (provided as vouchers worth $50,000)
- Free accommodation with AccorHotels (provided as 1 million ALL points)
- One year worth of free fuel at BP service stations (up to $3,650)
Which to Choose?
Given the choice of rewards, the natural question to ask is which reward is better? All of them could be useful, although the 1,000 Qantas Points could offer the most flexibility.
Having said that, the 15 Status Credits could come in handy if you are close to moving up a status level. It is worth noting that the Status Credits don’t add to your lifetime tally, which makes them a bit less useful.
