Qantas introduces the Qantas Premier Everyday Mastercard.

Qantas Premier Everyday Masrecard

Qantas Premier Everyday Masrecard

Qantas has just launched its second credit card – the Qantas Premier Everyday Mastercard. The new card is an entry level low cost card, As such, it sits below the Qantas Premier Platinum Mastercard.

The card sports an annual fee of $49 per year. As you would expect, at that price it has a smaller feature set than its big brother.

The card comes with an introductory sign on bonus. You can get 20,000 bonus Qantas Points if you sign up before April 29 and spend $3,000 within 90 days of card approval

Points Earning

On the rewards front, the card offers 0.75 Qantas Points per dollar spend, on the first $3000 spend each month. After that, the earn rate drops down to 0.4 Qantas Points per dollar.

There are some transactions that will earn at a higher rate. As you might expect, spend on Qantas services yields an earn of 1.75 Qantas Points per dollar. International spend also attracts a higher points earning rate – with an uncapped earning of 1 Qantas Points per dollar. While this earn is uncapped, international transactions attract a 3% transaction fee.

Other features

Unusually for an entry level card, it comes with a travel insurance policy. It also provides access to a concierge service. On the other hand, it forgoes features such as airport lounge access and discounts on Qantas flights that the Platinum version of the card has.

Who is it for?

The Qantas marketing spiel suggests that the card is aimed at the younger member looking for an affordable card. Qantas recognise the Millennials as a rapidly segment, that are not always flush with cash.

As a result, it is not a card for the big spenders. Other cards, such as the Qantas Premier Platinum Mastercard may give a better points return. It all depends on how much you spend each month on the cards.
