Qantas reopens its Hong Kong International lounge

QANTAS Lounge Hong Kong

Qantas has re-opened the doors to its Hong Kong International Lounge. Closed, and vacated, during the pandemic, it looked to be permanently closed. Following a change of heart, Qantas announced a refurbishment of the lounge as part of a broader investment in lounges.

Lounge Design

The new-look Hong Kong International Lounge sports a 2,000m2 footprint. In that space, it has room to seat 290 passengers.

Although the original design of the lounge has been retained, finishes, such as tiling and screens, have been refreshed. Qantas have also taken the opportunity to create different zones within the lounge.

Australian designer David Caon has given the lounge an updated, warmer colour palette and new furnishings. The lounge retains its panoramic views of Hong Kong’s famous Sky Bridge.

Food and Beverage

The updates to the lounge go beyond furnishings and colours. Qantas Creative Director of Food, Beverage & Service Neil Perry has also taken the opportunity to craft a new menu. The new menu includes a selection of local dishes and has brought back a fan favourite.

“Our customers absolutely loved the Yum Cha trolley, so we are pleased to confirm we have fired up the dim sum steamers for its comeback and will bring back the much-loved char siu Chinese barbecue pork dish,” he said.

Meanwhile, on the beverage side of the equation, the large bar area will serve up a wide selection of premium Australian wines, beer, and spirits. Maybe you’d prefer a cocktail. Neil Perry mixologist-designed cocktails such as the Chi Chi, made from dark rum with pineapple, lime, and vanilla will be on offer.

Qantas’ Quench hydration station will be on offer with hot and cold beverages which support wellness while travelling.

Qantas Chief Customer Officer Markus Svensson said the airline was proud to continue its investment in Hong Kong as demand returns to the region.
