Qantas has announced that it will be upgrading the Sydney International Business lounge. Under the plan, the current lounge will get a redevelopment commencing in the third quarter of this year. It is expected to be completed by the end of 2019.
Given its location, the Sydney International Business Lounge is one of the busiest lounges in the international lounge network. However, many have observed that it is showing its age, and space is often at a premium. An upgrade will no doubt be welcome by Frequent Flyers that have access to the lounge.
Features
Under the plan, the current Business Lounge will be redeveloped to offer 30% more seating. Other features of the new lounge will include=.
- Neil Perry designed dining concept;
- Full-service bar;
- Generous business facilities and high speed Wi-Fi;
- Dedicated family zone;
- Service experience by Sofitel; and
- Luxury bathroom facilities.
The upgrade to the lounge continues the investment in lounges that Qantas has been making over the past few years. This has included a range of overseas lounges, and the domestic lounges in Brisbane.
Coming up are the revamped lounges in Melbourne Domestic, and the all new transit lounge in Perth. This leaves Melbourne International as bit of the odd one out. I hope Qantas can find some love for the Melbourne International Business Lounge in the not too distant future.
