QT Hotels is set to enter Southeast Asia with the announcement of an opening date for the QT Singapore. The opening of the hotel on 16 September 2024 marks the start of the expansion of the QT brand into South East Asia.
The hotel will find its home at 35 Robinson Road, which has been operating as the Hotel Telegraph. Some may remember that the hotel was at one point the Sofitel So/ Singapore.
For travellers, this places it in quite a convenient location in Singapore, for both business and leisure travellers. Located in the heart of the financial district, it is right next to the iconic Lau Pa Sat hawker centre. The location also means that there is easy access to the MRT network. The hotel is a short walk to two stations (Raffles and Telok Ayer) on the MRT downtown line, although they are in opposite directions from the hotel. In addition, it is within easy reach of the fairly new Shenton Way station on the Thompson-East Coast line.
Refresh
As the hotel moves towards becoming the QT Singapore, it is undergoing an internal refresh. Interior designer Nic Graham has been brought in the add the QT touches to the interiors.
Facility wise, the hotel will feature “luxurious guestrooms and suites, gym and a rooftop pool for guests whilst boasting design-led public spaces, including a signature bar and grill and rooftop bar ‘Rooftop at QT,’”. In addition, the hotel will offer “bespoke private dining for intimate celebrations and formal business meetings.”
Having said that, the hotel will retain the distinguished façade of the building. The building was originally built for the Eastern Extension Telegraph Company, and later became the Cable and Wireless Building. In its hotel life, it has previously been the Sofitel So prior to becoming the Hotel Telegraph.
Priority Guest Rewards
QT Hotels participate in the Priority Guest Rewards program. While there is no information on the participation of QT Singapore specifically, hopefully the expansion into Singapore will see members of this program having an option in SIngapore. The benefits of Priority Guest Rewards include discounts of up to 50% on food and drink for members on the Black tier, which could come in very handy.
