Rex Introduces Business Class “Bid Up” Upgrades

    MarkBy MarkOctober 5, 2022No Comments2 Mins Read

Rex has launched “Bid Up” – offering passengers the chance to bid for an upgrade to Business Class. The offer is available when booking an Economy seat on one of their 737 services.

As an introductory offer, you will be able to make a bid for as little as $10.

The “Bid Up” program is  a real time bidding system for upgrades. In effect it is an auction, and you will be able to see what other passengers are bidding. As a result, it is different to the way the Qantas Bid Now upgrades, and the Virgin Upgrade Me Premium Bid work. In those cases, you make your bid and wait for a result.

In the Rex Bid Up system, you will be able to see what other passengers are bidding. You will have the opportunity to modify your bid if you have been outbid by another passenger.

While you can make an initial bid once you have booked, the real action starts 7 days out from your flight. At that time, Rex will send offers to selected customers, offering them the chance to bid. Alternatively, you will be able to check if you are eligible to bid online.

You are then able to bid an amount of your choosing within the minimum and maximum bid settings for your flight.

The outcome will be decided 3 hours before departure, and you can cancel or modify prior to this.

    More To Come

Rex has said that this is the first of a few changes coming down the line. Firstly, there is the launch of a Frequent Flyer program. Secondly, Rex are planning on rolling out a system to offer neighbour free seating. Finally, there is a planned upgrade and expansion of their current lounge offerings.Rex has introduced Bid Up, where you can make an offer to upgrade an Economy Class seat to Business Class
