Virgin Australia has announced a further series of changes to the lounges its international guests can access. This time it affects guests flying out of Los Angeles or Denpasar on an international service operated by Virgin Australia. Coming into effect from December 19, the changes follow a previous raft of changes to lounge access in Australia.
The changes are coming into effect four days after Virgin announced the changes in its monthly Velocity newsletter. This represents a fairly short notice period for the change.
Los Angeles
[March 21, 2017 – There have been further changes to the lounge access policy in Los Angeles. ]
At present, the lounges available when flying out of Los Angeles offer Velocity Platinum members use the Star Alliance First Class Lounge, while Velocity Gold and guests travelling in Business Class use the Star Alliance Business Class Lounge.
As of December 19, Velociity Platinum and guests travelling in Business will move across to the combined Etihad First & Business Class Lounge. Velocity Gold members (not flying in Business) will continue to have access to the Star Alliance Business Class Lounge.
Denpasar
In addition to the Los Angeles changes, Virgin Australia guests travelling out of Denpasar will also find changes to the lounge on offer.
Travellers eligible for lounge access currently utilise the JAS Premier Lounge. As of December 19, these guests will be moving across to the Taurus Gemilang Lounge.
For the frequent traveller, Lounge access can be an important part of the whole experience. While Velocity Gold members will not see any change, for Platinum and Business guests, the move to the Etihad lounge seems to be an overall improvement.
