The end of the financial year approaches, and with it comes sales time. Virgin Australia has kicked off their sale with a discounts of up to 35% on domestic flights, and a range of discounts on their international routes. In many cases, the discounts are available for Business Class fares in addition to Economy Class.
In addition, they are also running a competition in which 12 winners stand to win 1 million Velocity Points each.

There are some quite reasonable fares to be found. Domestically, you can pick up a ticket from Melbourne to Sydney for less than $100 in Economy. Or you can go business between Perth and Melbourne for $1,199.
Internationally Brisbane to Los Angeles can be had for $1,139 (return) in Economy. Or you could do a return trip between Melbourne and Hong Kong for $625.
Competition
I don’t normally worry too much about competitions, but as this one is running in tandem with the discounts, it’s worth a mention.
If you book a flight during the sale period, you could win 1 million points. You do need to be a member of Velocity, and have your number added during the booking process to get an entry.
All up, there will be twelve winners selected – basically one for each day of the sale. The odds aren’t good, but if you book a ticket you will be in there with a chance.
The draw for all 12 winners will take part at the end of the competition.
