Virgin Australia Mates Rates – Discount Business fares until Feb 12

    MarkBy MarkFebruary 10, 2017No Comments2 Mins Read

Virgin Australia have launched a sale offering discounted Business fares across their domestic network. The sale, going by the name Mates Rates is running through to midnight Sunday February 12.

Virgin have been advertising Business fares from $399. This includes routes such as Melbourne – Adelaide or Canberra – Adelaide.

For longer flights, such as transcontinental, I have found Brisbane/Melbourne/Sydney – Perth for $999, which is an excellent price for Business Class on that route. Note that Virgin have advertised Melbourne-Perth at $1,099 but I have found some $999 fares dotted around. A normal Business fare is more in the order of $2,000

    Velocity Earn

As these are revenue fares you’ll earn the relevant points and status credits for these fares.

On a points basis, you will earn the normal 5 points per dollar. On top of this you will earn any applicable status bonus.

For status credit earn, these will earn at the new Discount Business level. While theses are not the full Business Status credits, as for Flexible Business, the earn rate is still higher than the pre-January 30 tables.

For Adelaide – Melbourne, the $399 fare would yield 50 Status Credits. The transcontinental routes would yield 90 Status Credits.
