Virgin Australia removing Saver Lite fares

0

Virgin Australia has announced that it will be removing the Saver Lite fare family as a fare option as from 17 March, 2015. This will be done by removing the Saver Lite booking class ‘S’ from sale. This change is applicable to Australian Domestic service.

The main significance of this change is that it will remove the only fare option that comes without an included baggage allowance. After this change, Virgin Australia will only be marketing domestic fares that include a baggage allowance.

For passengers that have already booked Saver Lite tickets for travel after March 17 , they will still be able to travel without a baggage allowance.  If they need to check in baggage, the current systems will remain in place – although getting hit for check in luggage at the airport can be an expensive affair.

Trans Tasman flights to New Zealand will become a bit of an exception to the fully inclusive fares, with Saver Lite tickets continuing to be sold on Virgin Australia services. This is to allow it to align with partner Air New Zealand which sells a ‘Seat’ only fare.
