Virgin Australia has announced that it is returning to Uluru. This expansion will see it add direct services from Melbourne and Brisbane to the Red Centre.

The flights launch in June 2024, with Melbourne flights kicking off first on 6 June. Brisbane residents don’t need to wait much longer, flights from Brisbane to Uluru take off on 7 June.

Virgin Australia will fly between Melbourne and Uluru four times a week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. In the case of flights between Brisbane and Uluru, these will run three times a week, on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

According to Virgin Australia CEO, Jayne Hrdlicka

Uluru is somewhere everyone should visit for its cultural significance and natural beauty.

“Uluru is a special place in Australia and a cultural landmark that identifies this wonderful country to the world. We look forward to once again connecting Australians and international tourists alike, to the spiritual heartland of Australia,”

Launch Sale

A new service often comes with a launch sale, and Virgin hasn’t disappointed. If you book by 22 November  2023, you’ll be able to grab fares starting at $129 one-way in economy. These sale fares are available for travel between 6 June and 12 September 2024. Head to the Virgin Australia website for further details.

Ayers Rock Resort is also coming to the party with a special Welcome Offer. The welcome offer is for stays at Uluru from $150 per night at the Lost Camel Hotel. There are also options for other hotels within the resort.

Partnership

The new services are being launched in partnership with the Northern Territory Government and Voyages Indigenous Tourism Australia (operators of Ayers Rock Resort). Overall, it will mean an additional 62,000 seats will be available to the Red Centre.

The new services will also support the growth of the Indigenous Tourism sector, contributing to the Northern Territory’s more than $3bn visitor expenditure.
