    Virgin Australia revamps Trans Tasman offering

    MarkBy MarkAugust 3, 2018No Comments2 Mins Read

    As we know, Virgin Australia and Air New Zealand are going their own ways as from October 28. As a result of the divorce, Virgin Australia and Air New Zealand will no longer be trying to keep their on board offerings in any kind of alignment.

    The outcome of this is that Virgin is now announcing changes to its offering on Trans Tasman. Yesterday, we took a look at the changed that are happening to Velocity earn rates. Today, we will have a look at changes coming to their on board product.

    New Trans Tasman Offering

    As part of its new product offering, Virgin Australia is moving toward a more fully inclusive product. As a result, from October 28, every ticket will offer

    • A substantial meal and drink included in all fares;
    • At least 23kg of baggage included in all fares;
    • WiFi on all flights including 15 minutes of complimentary access; and
    • Increased Velocity Frequent Flyer Points and Status Credits earn potential.

    Melbourne – Wellington Codeshare

    Virgin Australia will also be offering a codeshare arrangement with Singapore Airlines on flights between Melbourne and Wellington, for travel from 28 October. The flights, operated by Singapore Airlines, will operate four times per week.

    These are all positive announcements from Virgin, and go someway to showing that they are going to give Trans-Tasman a serious go. As yet, there is no news on what the lounge arrangements will be for business travellers, but we hope they will have something in place by October.
