Jetstar will make history as the first commercial airline to launch passenger services from the new Western Sydney Airport (WSI). It will kick off operations on 25 October, when flight JQ362 departs at 11am for the Gold Coast. Jetstar’s initial schedule offers up to 14 weekly flights between WSI and Melbourne, four weekly flights to the Gold Coast, and three weekly flights to Brisbane. Every service will run on Airbus A320 aircraft.
Qantas will expand into WSI next, beginning 28 March 2027, with four weekly flights to Melbourne and four weekly flights to Brisbane, operated by the QantasLink Embraer E190.
This announcement follows confirmation that the Qantas Group and Western Sydney Airport have finalised a five‑year agreement covering domestic passenger flights and freight. The deal allows both airlines to scale their schedules as demand grows across Western Sydney, supporting long‑term network development and regional connectivity.
Launch fares
Special launch fares have now gone on sale, giving travellers early access to introductory pricing on Qantas and Jetstar flights from WSI. Jetstar is offering one‑way economy fares from $59 to the Gold Coast, making it one of the most affordable ways to fly from the new airport.
Meanwhile, Qantas is stepping in with its own opening deals. The airline will release economy fares from $99 and business fares from $299 for flights to Melbourne and Brisbane. Importantly, every Qantas fare includes meals and checked baggage.
