WFH – Work from Home, or Work from Hotel

Rydges Work From Hotel

Rydges Work From Hotel

The current Caronvirus pandemic has seen many of us working from home. This is fine, but working from home has its challenges and maybe you’d like to try something a little different. How about a trying a Work From Hotel Package?

That’s exactly what some hotels are offering right now. Hotels are doing it tough, and a few are trying innovative offerings to get some business.

Work From Hotel packages

One of those innovations is a work from hotel package. These are basically day rates, that give you access to a hotel room during the day.

In the last few days, I have received offers from two groups of hotels:

Rydges, QT, and Atura

Selected Rydges, QT, and Atura hotels are offering day use of rooms. These rooms are being made available between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. They offer the usual facilities, such as high-speed Wi-Fi, desks, chairs, fully stocked mini-bar, and complimentary tea and coffee. As usual, any consumption from the mini-bar will incur extra charges!

You can book the Rydges “work from hotel” package online until 30 July 2020, for stays at Australian and New Zealand properties until 30 September 2020.

While the normal Priority Guest Rewards such as room discounts do not apply, Priority Guest Rewards members will be eligible for a 20% discount on in-room dining. In addition, as you won’t be staying overnight, you will not receive any Priority Guest Rewards points.

Citadines and Somerset

From the Ascott chain, selected Citadines and Somerset hotels are offering the use of a room between 9 am and 5 pm for just $79 per day. Rooms are available in Hobart, Melbourne, Perth, and Sydney.

In addition, members of Ascott Star Rewards will earn points for their spending. These points will be awarded on the SGD equivalent on the day of your stay.

Unfortunately, the online website doesn’t seem to be able to handle check-in and check-out on the same day. As a result, you may need to call to make a booking. For further information, refer to the Citadines website.

Thoughts

It’s a tough time for the hospitality industry, so it is good to see some innovative offers. For those working from home, it can provide a useful change of scenery. And, if you’ve been missing hotel rooms, it gives you a chance to remember!
