World of Hyatt has announced that it is cutting status qualification requirements by 50% in 2021. This applies to qualifications through Tier-Qualifying Nights or Base Points.
2021 Status Requirements
The requirements changes are across the board and affect each of the World of Hyatt status levels. As a result of these changes, the requirements for 2021 for each of the levels are:
- Discoverist – Stay 5 Tier-Qualifying Nights or earn 12,500 Base Points
- Explorist – Stay 15 Tier-Qualifying Nights or earn 25,000 Base Points
- Globalist – Stay 30 Tier-Qualifying Nights or earn 50,000 Base Points
As if that wasn’t enough, this all combines with the current Bonus Journeys offer. Bonus Journeys is offering a bonus Tier-Qualifying night for each night you stay during this promotion. Taken together, this could provide an accelerated ride to status.
That means you could stay just 3 nights in 2021 to move up to Discoverist level. Or 15 nights if you wanted to go all the way to Globalist level. You would just need to make sure you stay during the promotion period.
Thoughts
This is quite an offer from World of Hyatt for 2021. Basically, if you can get the nights done in January and February, then you only need a quarter the number of nights you would normally require. But even if that is pushing things a bit much, then 30 nights over the whole year may be achievable.
At this point, the only other chain that is halving requirements for 2021 is Hilton. Having said that, some are rolling over nights from this year into next, and those chains may announce their plans for 2021 later.
If you had been looking at a way of climbing the status ladder at Hyatt, then 2021 may be the year to make a run at it.
