Partnership between Qantas and Journey Beyond rail travel ending

0

Qantas and Journey Beyond have announced that their partnership will come to an end. The last day for booking travel to earn points on Journey Beyond train trips is 15 December 2023.

The end comes around 3 years after the two companies launched their partnership, which allowed Qantas Frequent Flyers to earn points on 3 iconic rail journeys.

Now, you have just two weeks to get your booking in. According to the Qantas Frequent Flyer website.

Qantas Frequent Flyer members can continue to earn and use Qantas Points on eligible Journey Beyond rail itineraries booked by 15 December 2023 for departure by 31 December 2024. Qantas Points cannot be earned or redeemed on bookings for travel in 2025.

If a member has made an eligible Journey Beyond rail booking by 15 December 2023 for departure by 31 December 2024, and has not added their Qantas Frequent Flyer details to their booking to earn Qantas Points, the member can call Journey Beyond Travel Centre on 1800 019 642 at any time prior to travel in order to earn eligible Qantas Points. Qantas Points will be awarded within eight weeks of completion of the itinerary.

Journey Beyond

It used to be all about the flights. Now, Qantas Frequent Flyers can earn and use Qantas Points on rail travel thanks to a partnership with Journey Beyond.

Under the new partnership, members can unlock Classic Rewards when travelling on The Ghan, Indian Pacific,  the Great Southern, or The Overland. This represents the first time that members have been able to redeem Classic Rewards on the ground.

Journey Beyond

Journey Beyond offers extended overnight rail holidays that traverse some of Australia’s most picturesque and iconic landscapes. This includes the Red Centre, Blue Mountains, and East Coast.

The all-inclusive high-end expeditions include bespoke menus inspired by the places the trains travel through. The journeys also allow guests to explore beyond the tracks with immersive Off-Train Excursions.

Qantas Classic Rail Reward

One of the interesting features of the new partnership is the ability to redeem points for Classic Rewards. Having looked at some of these trips in the past, they can be quite expensive. However, as Classic Rewards, they could bring the chance of taking one of these journeys within reach.

The current Classic Reward table is as follows
