If you aren’t already a member of Velocity, or you know someone who isn’t, there is currently an offer to pocket 500 Velocity Points for signing up. The only condition us that you first make an eligible purchase at BP, and then join Velocity within 48 hours.
500 Velocity Points signup bonus
So, if you (or a friend) want the 500 Velocity Points, this is what you need to do:
- Buy something at BP that is eligible for Velocity Points (for example, fuel, or a snack from the shop)
- Ask for a temporary BP card before you pay
- Swipe the temporary BP card, then pay as normal

You can still receive the points for up to 30 days after the transaction. However, if you do not join within 48 hours you will miss out on the 500 Bonus Points.
The bonus points should be credited within five weeks, and the offer runs for purchases made on temporary cards until April 30, 2020. For purchases made on April 30, 2020 you have until May 2, 2020 to join Velocity to get your points.
Velocity and BP
BP and Velocity have been partners for 4 years now. Under the normal earn structure, members can earn 2 points per liter of fuel, or 2 points for each dollar spent in store. While there are a few exclusions and limits, such as a 150 liter limit, it is generally an easy way to pick up a few points
The relationship between BP and Velocity seems to have been a bit testy over the last year or so. BP terminated the partnership and it looked as though they would end up in the Woolworths Rewards camp. However, the ACCC has not permitted BP to buy the Woolworths Caltex operation.
That leaves us in the current situation is that you can still earn Velocity points at BP.
