Qantas Status Extensions and Status Credit Rollover

The Seat

Last weekend, while offering up an apology for recent performance issues, Qantas announced a further round of status extensions. At the time, the detail of the extension was a little light on detail. Fortunately, things became much clearer yesterday. In this post, we will take a look at the latest status extension on offer.

Qantas now extending status to 2023-24

January 2023 – June 2022 Membership Anniversaries

For the most part, the latest extension offer is relevant to members that have a membership anniversary falling between January 2023 and June 2023.

Unlike previous offers, there is no longer a requirement to book a flight. If you are a Silver, or above, member your status will be extended for a further 12 months. To summarise, you will get a further 12 months at your current status if you meet the following conditions:

July 2022 – December 2022 Membership Anniversaries

Members with a anniversary date between July 2022 and December 2022 have previously been offered an extension. However, Qantas has made a minor tweak to the offer. Members will no longer have to book an eligible flight in order to take advantage of the offer.

As a result, such members will have their status extended if they meet the following

Status Rollover

Qantas are also extending the Status Credit Rollover that has been in place for the last few extensions. This is now automatic for Silver and above members. You no longer have to book an eligible flight.

The same caps as previously applied remain in place. The maximum number of Status Credits that will rollover are as follows:

Cap for rollover Platinum One Platinum Gold Silver
Status Credits 1,800 SCs 500 SCs 250 SCs 100 SCs

Most, but not all, status credits will rollover. Any Status Credits earned through flying and ground partners will be eligible for the rollover. On the other hand, Status Credits previously rolled over or gifted by Qantas won’t be eligible to be rolled over.

Thoughts

This is the latest round of status extensions and Status Credits Rollovers for all Silver (and higher) elite members. It means that all elite members with membership end dates between July 2022 to June 2023 will be eligible for an extension.

For those with membership dates in 2022, it basically removed the need to book a flight. However, the big change was for those with a membership end date of January 2023 to June 2023. These members will now be able to keep their status all the way through to 2024.
