The Rockpool Group and Qantas are ending their partnership. As a result, Qantas Frequent Flyers will no longer be able to earn or redeem points at Rockpool Group restaurants.
The news has been announced on the Rockpool website:
Effective 15 August 2019, Qantas Frequent Flyer members can no longer earn or use Qantas Points directly with Rockpool Dining Group. The last day you can dine and earn or use Qantas Points with Rockpool Dining Group is 15 August 2019.
The last day of the partnership has been set at 15 August 2019.
The Rockpool – Qantas Points history
Rockpool first put Qantas Points on the menu just over 18 months ago. Kicking off with a double points promotion, it settled in to offering 1 Qantas point per $1 spent at Fast Casual restaurants 2 points per dollar at Rockpool’s premium and casual restaurants.
It is also been possible to redeem Qantas points at Rockpool venues. As with many offers of the type, a $20 discount has come at the cost of 4,000 Qantas Points. While fairly standard, it is not generally the best use of Qantas Points.
The offer to earn points has been popular with Qantas Frequent Flyers. The dining group have offered a range of dining styles, and the points have tended to post almost immediately.
Dining Options
Unfortunately, the demise of this partnership follows the end of Qantas Restaurants program at the start of the year, This leaves few options for Qantas Frequent Flyers to earn points on their dining options.
Come 15 August, it will pretty much leave Deliveroo as your only option – and that is not really a dining out experience.
Things aren’t much better over at Velocity either. Their own partnership with OpenTable is shutting down come 20 July.
