Velocity Frequent Flyer kicks off Luxury Escapes partnership

Velocity x Luxury Escapes Nick Rohrlach + Adam Schwab

Velocity Frequent Flyer can now earn and redeem points through Luxury Escapes. The previously announced partnership follows with the departure of Luxury Escapes from the Qantas Frequent Flyer program.

The Velocity Luxury Escapes offer

Members of the Velocity program can now earn and burn points on various holiday and hotel packages, cruises, tours and experiences. On the earning side of the equation, members can pocket 1 Velocity Point per dollar spent on eligible Luxury Escapes bookings.

On the flip side, members will also be able to use their points when purchasing eligible packages. During check-out, you can redeem a minimum of 5,000 points towards your purchase. You can choose to use any number of points (over 5,000) and pay the rest using some other form of payment.

While most packages are eligible for Velocity Points, there are some exclusions that will not earn Velocity Points. For example, “Hotels and Resorts – LUX Partner Property” and flight only bookings will not be eligible.

Having said that, eligible packages are flagged with a Velocity logo. For example, the following package is eligible to earn and burn points on.

You are able to partially pay for your Luxury Escapes package with Velocity Points. During the check-out, you will see Velocity as an option. If you choose this option, you will be prompted to log into your Velocity account. You will then be offered the option to use Velocity Points.

After playing with the options, Luxury Esacpes is offering 0.75cents for each Velocity Points. From a value perspective, this is not a terrible rate, It’s higher that you can receive for buying gift cards through the Velocity e-store. However, it still falls short of the value you can get from redeeming for flights.
